Oremus pro Pontifice is a very ancient prayer for the Pope (Pro Pontifice nostro). This version is taken from the collection Cantus selecti, published by Solesmes in 1957, page 230*. According to the same volume (Cantus Selecti), the author of this version of the song is Dom Joseph Pothier himself.

Text and translations

Latin text Orémus pro Pontífice nostro Leone. Dóminus consérvet eum, et vivíficet eum, et beátum fáciat eum in terra, et non tradat eum in ánimam inimicórum éius.

English version Let us pray for Leo, the Pope. May the Lord preserve him, give him a long life, make him blessed upon the earth, and may the Lord not hand him over to the power of his enemies.
